South Africa held Ghana to a pulsating goalless draw game on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Dubai Police Academy Stadium.
The game was to test the strength of both sides ahead of the 32nd edition of the Total sponsored African Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt on June 21 to July 19, 2019.
Ghana started the game on a good note, creating numerous of chances but failed to find the back of the net of the Bafana Bafana.
Coach Stuart Baxter’s side got settled and started dominating possession, firing from all cylinders just to get the opener but to no avail.
Maritzburg United shot-stopper, Richard Ofori brilliantly proved why coach Kwesi Appiah should have trust in him as the first-choice by denying the South Africans the chance to break the virginity of the game on countless occasions.
Ghana returned to dominate possession, creating goal threatening opportunities but once again failed to open the deadlock before the break.
Coach Kwesi Appiah brought in Samuel Owusu, Mubarak Wakaso and Kwabena Owusu in the game for Christian Atsu, Kwadwo Asamoah and Thomas Agyepong.
The game became a ding-dong affair with both teams enjoying possessions but found it difficult to penetrate each others defense.
Jordan Ayew, John Boye and Lumor Agbenyanu were substituted for Asamoah Gyan, Jonathan Mensah and Abdul Baba Rahman but the scoreline remained unchanged as South Africa held Ghana to a goalless draw.
