Kumasi Asante Kotoko nimble goal poacher, Songne Yacouba has turned down Burkina Faso national team invitation to focus on the Kumasi based side clash with bitterest rival Accra Hearts of Oak in the NC Special Competition.
The Porcupines will hunt for a ticket to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League as they face off arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the semi-finals of the NC Special Competition slated for June 16, 2019 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Reds will prepare for the elephantine clash without their first-choice shot-stopper Felix Van Annan as well as leading topscorer in the Special Competition Abdul Fatawu Shafiu due to national team assignment and losing the Burkinabe import would have been a big blow to the team.
The former Stade de Malian forward has however rejected the Burkina Faso national team call up with the aim of focusing on the Hearts of Oak duel in the NC Special Competition.
Burkina Faso national side is scheduled to play against Congo DR on 9th June ahead of the latter’s participation in the 2019 AFCON.
Yacouba brilliantly scored two goals during his last encounter with the Continental Club Masters in August which was a friendly and has assured to spend his Eid Ul Fitr holidays in Kumasi to speed up recovery.
He has scored one and assisted one in his last three matches for the Porcupine Warriors in the NC Special Competition after returning from injury.
