Konongo Odumasi-based Royal Sporting Club were crowned champions of the much anticipated Ashanti Regional Juvenile Tournament.
The much anticipated Ashanti Regional Juvenile Tournament was greeted with the unflinching and undiluted passion for grassroots soccer when the grand finale was honoured over the weekend, with Royal Sporting Club Konongo Odumasi beating Top Rankers fc by 3-1.[ads2]
The tournament which was hosted at the Kokoase Astro Turf at Bantama in Kumasi, saw in attendance Ashanti Regional FA chairman Mr. Osei Tutu Agyemang, the Chairman for the Juvenile league Mr. Samuel Otoo, the National U-17 coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and a host of others.
The tournament kicked off to a flying start with a lot of promising performances notably from Abrempon Sports Academy, Raymond fc, Top Rankers and the eventual winners, Royal Sports Club.[ads3]
Abrempon Sports Academy was one team that caught the attention of many, with their scintillating performance, where most bookmakers tipped them for the final after beating Raymond fc 1-0 in the quarter finals but were stopped in their strides by Top Rankers fc in the semi-final. The Sekyere based team received a lot of plaudits even after their defeat to the eventual runners-up.
The final match which kicked off in the late hours of the afternoon saw Royal Sporting Club Konongo Odumasi beating Top Rankers 3:1 in an entertaining and mouth watering game.
The tournament lived up to expectation with the Ashanti region FA Chairman Mr. Osei Tutu Agyemang, took time to congratulate the winners and the rest of the teams as well as the fans and all stakeholders for making the tournament a success.[ads4]
Sports442, caught up with the President of Abrempon Sports Academy who was in a buoyant mood and had this to say ” we want to thank everybody that supported Abrempon Sports Academy, we are soo grateful to our supporters, to the players we are ok with their performance, just that we had a bad luck but it was a good show and as a club playing in the juvenile Cots for the first time the performance is more than our expectation, unfortunately we lost to Top Rankers but we will go back to the drawing board and organize ourselves and the subsequent league we will be doing soo much, so everybody should watch out for Abrempon”.
