Nzema Kotoko clamped Unistar Academy at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to secure a final berth in the NC Special Competition tier 2.
The semi-final clash which was all division one affair saw the Academy boys opened the floodgate with a dazzling performance, creating early goal scoring opportunities.
Ali Muftawu who was a delight to watch in the game opened the deadlock in the 26th minutes for the Academy boys with a long range shot which the Nzema Kotoko goalkeeper couldn’t prevent the ball from entering the back of the net.
As if the opener will jeopardize the Ampain based team, Francis Atitsogbe quickly restored parity in less than a minutes through Obuoba Yaw Dasi’s scintillating cross.
The game later became a ding-dong affair until the centre referee pointed to the spot of Unistar Academy, whistling for a penalty following a bad play from the defenders.
Agyenim Boateng who is the topscorer for Kotoko, beautifully converted the spot kick in the 38th minutes to send his side on the lead to end the first forty-five minutes.
Unistar Academy returned from the break with much eagerness to get the equalizer and probably the decider but all efforts went futile as the Nzema Kotoko defenders gallantly defended very well to remain on top.
Nzema Kotoko returned back to possession, creating enough chances but failed to increase the lead. The game ended 2:1 in favor of the Ampain based team.
