The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Evans Owusu Bobie has said Milovan Rajevac is yet to be appointed the new Black Stars head coach.
According to the deputy minister, the government is yet to approve the appointment of the Serbian tactician as the new head coach of the Ghana senior male national team.[ads2]
He disclosed that the government is yet to receive the Ghana FA report on who is suitable for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.
“We [Government] haven’t approved Milo [Milovan Rajevac] as Black Stars coach, we are yet to receive GFA committee’s report”, Hon. Bobie told Accra-based Angel FM.
“Per our checks as a ministry we have not seen Milo, we have not even received any report from the GFA regarding the appointment of a new coach”, he added.[ads3]
The Black Stars head coach job has been vacant since CK Akonnor was sacked weeks ago by the Ghana FA over poor performance.
Akonnor was fired after Ghana was defeated by South Africa in 2022 world cup qualifiers having struggled to defeat Ethiopia 1:0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Ghana FA then formed a three-member committee to search for a new head coach within 72 hours and after their thorough search, reportedly submitted Milovan Rajevac for the job.[ads4]
There were reports in the media that the Ghana FA and the government have agreed with the Serbian gaffer on a two-year deal with a salary of $45,000.
Rajevac took Ghana to the World Cup quarterfinals in 2010. Early that year, Rajevac guided the Black Stars to their first Afcon final in 20 years.
The 67-year old is reportedly in Ghana to finalize his appointment as the Black Stars new head coach.[ads5]
