Great Olympics put in a surprised performance to beat Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The outstanding Ghana Premier League game was hurdled off this afternoon with Micheal Yeboah scoring the only goal to secure Great Olympics the three maximum points.[ads2]
Prior to the game, Asante Kotoko were tipped as favorite but were astonished as Great Olympics snatched the three points from the hands.
Olympics who were playing as visitors started the game on a high note, detecting the pace and making incursions.
Razak Kasim nearly broke the virginity for Great Olympics in the two minutes into the game but his strike was intercepted by the Kotoko defenders.[ads3]
Patrick Asmah had the ball close to the Great Olympics goal area and unleashed a thunderbolt strike it went way off target.
Michael Yeboah found Michael Otu’s pass close to the Kotoko penalty box but his shot was off target.
Unfortunate for Asante Kotoko, Patrick Asmah who was performing incredibly was injured and had to be replaced by Imoro Ibrahim.
Despite the change, the result didn’t change in the first half as both teams failed to score.
Great Olympics returned from the tunnel with much determination, creating chances until Micheal Yeboah found the net for the visitors in just nine minutes into the second half.
This angered Asante Kotoko who started pressing harder to get the equalizer but all to no avail.[ads4]
Coach Maxwell Konadu then started throwing more men into the game by changing Godfred Asiamah for Muniru Suley and Evans Adomako for skipper Emmanuel Gyamfi.
William Opoku Mensah could have snatched the parity for Asante Kotoko as his shot went whisker off the crossbar.
The center referee blew his whistle for the closure of the game after ninety minutes plus additional time with Great Olympics as the winner.[ads5]
