Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced their decision to withdraw from the tier one of the Normalization Committee Special Competition.
The Porcupines were to engage bitterest rival Hearts of Oak in the semi-finals of the Special Cup on June 16, 2019 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decision from the Normalization Committee to stage a one-off semi-final game at the Accra Sports Stadium became a distasteful news for the Porcupine Warriors thus petitioning the NC to either choose a neutral ground for the cracker or get 40% of the gate proceeds of which they were denied.
The denial by the Normalization Committee has triggered Kotoko decision to pull out of the competition which means they have no chance of representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season but will rely in the tier 2 competition for a ticket to the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup.
“We have withdrawn from the tier-one competition, following the failure of the Normalization Committee to grant our legal request for a change in venue and equitable distribution of gate proceeds of our semi-final match against Hearts of Oak”, the club statement reads.

This means Accra Hearts of Oak have gotten a walkover and will face either Karela United or Obuasi Ashantigold Sporting Club in the finals of the competition.
