Patrick Allotey, a Ghanaian Africa Super welterweight champion has said he didn’t know that fighting in public as a professional boxer was against the ethics in boxing.
Allotey was slapped with a six months suspension by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) after assaulting Asante Kotoko supporter Michael Siaw at the Accra Sports Stadium when Kotoko met Hearts of Oak in the just cancelled 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

Patrick Allotey was arrested by the police but was later granted GH¢100,000.00 bail and later had his license suspended by GBA for six months.
The incident occurred on February 6, 2020 and had his suspension coming to an end in August 6, 2020.
Speaking after serving the six months suspension, Patrick Allotey believes he has learnt a great lesson from the incident and will never repeat such mistake again in his boxing career.

“I have learnt a great lesson from the incident, I have learnt a lot within these six months. I was sad at the beginning but I motivated myself and still continued with my training.”
“Personally, I didn’t know that fighting in public as a professional boxer was against the ethics in boxing and I promise not to repeat that again”, Allotey added.
