Kofi Manu populary called, Blue Boy says he is excited that Kumasi Asante Kotoko have withdrawn from the tier-one of the NC Special Competition.
The Porcupine Warriors were supposed to face off arch rivals, Hearts of Oak in the semi-finals of the NC Special Competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 16, 2019
Asante Kotoko pulled out of the competition after insisting that, the Normalization Committee should choose a neutral ground for the duel or give the team 40% share of the gate proceeds.
The team also tasked the Normalization Committee to explain to them, why the semi-final clash has been revised to a one-off encounter.
In their response, the Normalization Committee in a statement, denied the Porcupines a 40% share of the gate proceeds, insisting that, the Accra Sports Stadium remains the venue for the semi-final clash.
The team later pulled out of the tier-one of the NC Special Competition after the statement from the Normalization Committee.
However, Blue Boy, who was a member of the defunct Ghana Football Association and also the vice chairman of the FA’s Club Licensing Board, believes the decision to pull out of the competition by the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, is laudable and a welcoming one.
“I’m happy Asante Kotoko have pulled out of the NC Special Competition because the rules governing the competition are not binding on anybody. Kotoko have shown that, they are a big club and the other clubs must emulate”, Blue Boy told Fox FM in Kumasi.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have gotten a walkover after the decision by Asante Kotoko and will face either Karela United or Ashantigold Sporting Club in the finals to secure next season’s CAF Champions League.
