Former Ghana Premier League topscorer Hans Kwofie has pleaded with Ghana Premier League players to accept pay cut.
There has been a heated augment in Ghana on whether players plying their trade in the domestic league should accept a slash down in salaries or not, as football activities in the country and some part of the world has been suspended due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus.
Ghanaian clubs like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have proposed to slash down the salaries of their players and even the management and the technical team as there is no football activities going on in the country.

Sharing his view on the issue, the former Medeama Sporting Club forward has said, though the salaries of most players in the Ghana Premier League are very low unlike Europe and other part of Africa, the players should at least, slash down their salaries a little to aid in the fight against the pandemic.
“I feel sad and worried whenever I hear of Ghana Premier League clubs wanting to slash down the salaries of their players because they [players] receive low salaries unlike Europe and other part of Africa.

“But this pandemic has affected not only Ghana but the rest of the world and I will plead with the players to look at the current situation and accept the pay cut.
“If they can’t accept the percentages that their clubs are proposing, I will say they should slash down their salaries a little to help in the fight against the disease”, Kwofie told Takoradi based Kyzz FM.
