Former Hearts of Oak striker Bernard Arthur has advised in-form midfielder Benjamin Afutu to renew his contract for the club.
Afutu joined Hearts of Oak in December, 2017 after a stellar performance for Karela United in the division one league.
He was very pivotal in securing Karela United a ticket to play in the Ghana Premier league in 2017.[ads2]
Since joining Hearts of Oak, Benjamin Afutu has improved tremendously, becoming a core figure in the team this season, and helping them to win the Ghana Premier league.
The 25-year old holding midfielder has currently run out his contract with the Phobians with talks in place to sign a new contract.
Kyfilla.com understands both parties are yet to reach an agreement after lengthy discussion with some clubs abroad already chasing for his signature.[ads3]
According to reliable source, Afutu and his representatives want a year deal whiles Hearts of Oak want to give him a two-year offer to discourage other clubs from pursuing his service.
With negotiations hanging on a thin line, Bernard Arthur who played for Hearts of Oak and currently with Saudi Arabian outfit Taweek FC has advised Benjamin Afutu to sign a new deal for the Phobians.
According to Bernard Arthur, Hearts of Oak will be playing in the next season’s CAF Champions League which will increase the value of Benjamin Afutu should he signed for the reigning Ghana Premier league champions.
In an audio available to Kyfilla.com, Bernard Arthur stated that, “He [Benjamin Afutu] should not think of seeking a contract outside Ghana, he is now a hot cake and can get Black Stars call-up should he continue such a fine form at Hearts of Oak.[ads4]
“He should take the opportunity and sign the deal for Hearts of Oak, because it will be very difficult to make it to the top should he fail to make good use of the opportunity by signing for the club. They trust him now but if he lose that trust especially from the supporters, it will be difficult for him to make it again. He should make things flexible for Hearts of Oak”, Arthur added.
The former Great Olympics striker continued that, “the club is going to play in Africa, if you play very well, you will add value to yourself and it is a big deal, he should be careful with how to go about this, he should think about the future and not what he will get now. “[ads5]
