Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youths and Sports, Hon. Alex Agyekum says the 2019 AFCON budget will be announced at the appropriate time.
In quest to know the budget for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, report which was making rounds in the Ghanaian media suggested that, the Normalization Committee presented a budget of GH¢7.2m of which the Sports Ministry agreed but the Normalization Committee later on squashed the rumours.
Wading to the debate that, the budget should be made public before the Black Stars opening game, Hon. Alex Agyekum has reiterated that, even though the tournament has already commenced in Egypt, Ghanaians should patiently wait for the appropriate time where the AFCON budget will be made public
“Ghanaians will get to know the AFCON budget at the appropriate time, so they should wait patiently”, he told Nimde3 FM.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are already in Egypt, preparing for their opening game against the Squirrels of Benin on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Ismailia Sports Stadium before facing defending champions Cameroon on June 29.
