The Western Region Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Jeffrey K.Owusu Manzan has called on authorities to help in developing sports in the region.
Speaking to Kyfilla.com in relation with the upcoming Inter-districts athletics championship, Mr. Manzan stated that when authorities in the Western region support in organizing such event, sports in the region could bounce back.
“Even though the amount allocated to sports from the common fund is not enough, I think the MP’s , Ministers and other authorities in this region (Western) can help in reviving sports in this region”, he said.
Asked on his expectations from the upcoming NSA/GNPC Inter-districts athletics championship which is slated for Saturday 1st December,2018 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Mr. Manzan said he’s expecting a successful competition and also hoping for residents in the region to attend to the stadium in their numbers to cheer their various districts up.
“I’m expecting a successful tournament. It’s shouldn’t be always football that we will troop to the stadium to watch so this time around am hoping that supporters from the various districts will come and support their team.
The athletes would compete in 10 different events on the day which includes 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 4x 200m, 4×4 relay, 4x 100m relay, 4x 200m relay, cross country race and a high jump.
