The Western regional deputy Minister, Miss Gifty Eugenia Kusi has urged Districts Chief Executives in the region to prioritize sports in their various districts.
According to the Deputy Minister, Western region abounds in lots of talents and it’s the responsibility of all stakeholders including the DCE’s to come on board to encourage increased participation in sports in the region and thereby creating opportunities for the youth.
Speaking at the maiden GNPC/ NSA Inter-districts athletics championship held at the Sekondi Sports Stadium on December 1,2018, Madam Kusi stated that all Districts Chief Executives should prioritize sports in their respective districts by effectively honouring their responsibilities in the formulation of sports policies and programmes of the Districts Assemblies as enshrined in the sports Act 934.
“Western region abounds in lots of talents and it’s the responsibilities of all stakeholders to come on board to encourage increased participation in sports in the region.
“Against this background, I would like to call on all Districts Chief Executives to prioritize sports vin their respective Districts, by effectively honouring their responsibilities in the formulation of sports policies and programmes of the District Assemblies.
The GNPC/NSA maiden Inter-districts athletics championship which is under the theme “Enhancing sports and creating opportunity through athletics is aimed at selecting athletes to form a regional team and also formulating of data for the participating athletes.
