The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has been named the best African leader of the year.
The 76-year old was bestowed the honour by UK-based African Leadership Magazine with focus in bringing the best of Africa to the globe.[ads2]
The award recognition is open to an African, whose contribution has immensely contributed to deepening democracy and democratic values in the continent.
President Akufo-Addo who is currently the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) overwhelmingly beat competitions from another African presidents for the award.[ads3]
President Akufo-Addo accumulated a whooping 54.39% of the total votes to clinch the honour.
Second to President Akufo-Addo was the President of Tanzania, His Excellency John Magufuli who pulled 43.83% of the votes whiles South African President, Cyrill Ramaphosa had just 1.01% with President Macky Sall of Senegal finishing fifth with 0.77%.[ads4]
This honour means that President Akufo-Addo is doing extraordinary well as President of Ghana and leader for ECOWAS.
President Akufo-Addo is currently serving his second term as President of Ghana after winning the just ended 2020 December polls after pulling 6,730,587 votes (51.3%) whiles competitor and flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama amassed 6,213,182 (47.3%).
He was sworn into office alongside his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by the Chief Justice of Ghana Kwasi Anin Yeboah on January 7, 2021..[ads5]
