The Referees Association of Ghana have issued out a press release demanding for the copy of Anas Aremeyaw Anas expose’ video from Tiger Eye Pi before they commence action.
The release was signed by the General Secretary of the Association Ayita Mensah with copies to the various Regional Chairmen and the National Executive Members of the Association.Below is the release from the club.
”The Referees Association of Ghana still standing by its words that we do not and will never condone with such malpractices and is ready to take serious view of the allegations and will deal with members found culpable as stipulated in its Constitution.
In order to immediately address these issues to clear and restore the bad image this expose’ has brought onto RAG, a serious house cleaning exercise which was already in motion will continue with members given the opportunity to defend themselves of the allegations.
To get to the bottom of the issues, requests were made on 17th June 2018 with reminders to Tiger Eye Pi to urgently let RAG have a copy of the full details of the documentary and the list of the alleged corrupt referees for the cleaning exercise immediately.
2.The RAGs Ethics Committee is activated and readily waiting for a copy of the details of the documentary and list to commence action.
We believed that the arterial motive of Tiger Eye Pi was to help RAG to eradicate corrupt referees from the system and if they could not assist RAG with a detailed copy of the footage or documents that can help the Association sanction members found culpable of the corruption act, then Tiger Eye Pi has not only done disservice to RAG but to the nation as a whole.
We therefore pray that Tiger Eye Pi would deemed it necessary to provide us with a detailed copy of the video as requested to enable us have enough evidence to support any action that we would take.
The Ghana Police Service, CID Headquarters invited RAG for a meeting where the Association was looking forward to receive the details of the documentary (images) and list of the alleged corrupt referees. The documentary was not given to RAG but a list containing few names of alleged corrupt Referees was given with the explanation that more will be added as and when investigation continue.
The need for the information from the alleging source (Tiger Eye PI) is what will help RAG take immediate steps to address the issues coming up in order to restore the desired confidence, trust and image of the Association.
Even though the allegations are damming in the eyes of the general public, RAG has a lot of very good, courageous, responsible and committed members with integrity and positive attitude from the National Executive level to Potential.
RAG wants to assure all and sundry that no corrupt referee will be shielded by the Committee set up to handle this important issue as stipulated in its Constitution.
3.We therefore wish to bring this to the notice of Government, Football loving people and the general public that RAG is ready to immediately and swiftly take action to purge the list of culprits identified and found culpable of the allegations with the aid of the documentary (images).
We therefore want our Referees to exercise patience and assure them that those captured in the documentary will be given the opportunity to defend themselves by way of a fair hearing.
RAG is taking this opportunity to once again, appeal to Tiger Eye Pi that we urgently need a details copy of the documentary (images) and the list of names they may have to enable RAG starts its internal investigations as early as possible.
Thank you.
