FC Samartex head coach, Henry Wellington has said he is ready to vacate his job should the leadership of the club decide to part ways with him.
The former Hearts of Oak tactician has qualifed Samartex to the next season’s Ghana Premier League but won’t be eligible to handle the team due to issues with his certificate.
Wellington is a license B holder which does not permit him to head any premiership club in the country.
But Henry Wellington who joined FC Samartex in October, 2021 from Nzema Kotoko told Kyfilla.com that he will only leave the Samreboi side only when the leadership of the club decide to let him go.
“I am ready to leave [FC Samartex] but that will depend on their [Management of the club] decision but am happy here”, Wellington said in an interview with Kyfilla.com after their coronation game against New Edubiase on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
He continued that,”Even if the team will go in for a license A coach, he should be at my level or above. Not all license A coaches can handle a team in the premiership. I only have a license B and am hoping to upgrade but I will still help Samartex even when another coach is brought in”, he added.
FC Samartex were crowned the zone two champions of the 2021/22 division one league after 30 matches, accumulating 66 points as against 54 for second placed Ebusua Dwarfs.
The Timber Boys will be participating in the Ghana Premier League for the very first time since the formation of the club 26 years ago.
They have become the first club for the Amenfi area in the Western Region to secure a ticket to play in the Ghanaian top-flight league.
FC Samartex is financed by ace businessman and Managing Director of Samartex Timber and Plywood Company Limited, Richard Nsenkyire.
