The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has directed the Ghana Rugby Union to resolve the impasse regarding the suspension of Herbert Mensah as the Chairman of the Union.
The Ghana Rugby Union have been in the news recently following the suspension of ace sports administrator Herbert Mensah as the Chief Executive Officer of the Union following a petition from the Ghana Rugby Players Association to the Board.
As part of steps to resolve the impasse, some Board members of the Union visited the Director-General of the NSA on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 to seek for advise to address the situation.
At the meeting, Professor Peter Twumasi thanked the three-member delegation from the Ghana Rugby Union led by the Vice President James Nunoo for updating the Authority on the current happenings at the Union and also to seek for counseling to redress the impasse.
Professor Twumasi advised the Board members to resolve the differences which is unhealthy for sports promotion and urged them to operate in accordance with their constitutional guidance.
He was optimistic that the constitution makes provisions for resolving such disputes when they arise.
Professor Twumasi reiterated the essential role of congress when even there are gray areas and assured them the Authority’s readiness to intervene fully to resolve the current disputes should the Union’s internal controls fail to achieve any amicable settlement.
Present at the meeting was the Vice President of the Ghana Rugby Union, James Nunoo, Abdul Aziz Issah, the President of Greater Accra Rugby Association and Mrs Ako Wilson, the President of the Ghana Rugby Players Association.
