In ancient Greek stories, a man’s good life lived on earth is measured by their ability to provide a gold coin to cross the afterlife river. It’s believed the ability to provide at least that decent golden coin shows how good you were on earth for the gods to have blessed you.
There are many good people with no golden coin doing golden deeds for their community. Fontomfrom Amandze Awards (FAA) exists to honor communal and social excellence. For three years, we have been travelling within the Western region looking for people who have selflessly passed through obstacles just to impact the society.
It is said that these noble acts will be rewarded in heaven, but why wait till heaven when we can give them a light taste of heaven by honouring their deeds here on earth. This would encourage them to do more and also motivate others especially the youth to invest their energies in building up their communities.
Although the ultimate goal for the awards ceremony is to honour these worthy people, the ceremony also seeks to celebrate and promote authentic Ghanaian music, clothes, arts and culture. FAA prides in performances by Ghanaian music legends such as Gyedu Blay Ambuley and Kofi Bentil. Not forgetting entertainment by traditional dance groups gracing us with their spirited moves. Dress code for the awards night is always a bona fide Ghanaian wear.
The FAA also seeks to advance youth empowerment; thus, it gives opportunities to up and coming artiste like Township and others to showcase their talents at the event.
Lastly, entrepreneurship in the Western region has been on the rise these past years because of the support small businesses are given to exhibit their goods and services at the event grounds.
This year’s event will be held at Raybow Hotel in Takoradi on December, 4 2021 at 6pm.
