Asante Kotoko defender, Abdul Ganiyu has been handed Black Stars call-up ahead of world cup qualifying games against Ethiopia and South Africa.
The ace defender has been given the nod following his outstanding performance for Asante Kotoko this season despite the team’s inability to win even a single trophy this season.
The former Karela United defender has returned to the Black Stars team once again after shinning in the AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and a friendly game against Ivory Coast earlier this year.
Ganiyu had his name mentioned in a 30-man squad by coach CK Akonnor for both Ethiopia and South Africa clash on Friday, August 13, 2021.[ads2]
He was the only Asante Kotoko player but part of the only five locally-based players to have their names mentioned in the squad list.
Other locally-based players in the squad-list are Hearts of Oak duo of Richard Attah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Dreams FCs Philemon Baffour and Fatawu Issahaku of Division One league outfit Steadfast FC.
