Emmanuel Sarkodie now begins a new chapter in his football career, becoming the first player to be signed by Asante Kotoko in the second transfer window of the 2019/2020 season.
The defensive midfielder and former captain of Division-One side, Nkoranza Warriors, has taken a familiar path to the top as did a lot of lower-division players who have starred for Kotoko in years past.
Asante Kotoko are known to be among the destination for established players and also unknown players to blossom.
The likes of Samuel Inkoom and in recent times Richard Senanu, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Christopher Nettey are a few of the many examples.
Sarkodie may have walked himself towards that direction when he penned a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors last month, and a quick read of his profile reveals why.
Emmanuel Sarkodie hails from Abura-Dunkwa, capital of Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District in the Central Region, but was born and bread in Kumasi.

He was an offensive midfielder in his boyhood days as he made his name playing with his friends at the town parks and for the Bethel Preparatory School in North Suntreso.
His potential became more evident during his Senior High School days when he starred for Tweneboah Kodua SHS in the inter-colleges sports competition.
Sarkodie joined KFC Samosa’s colts team after completing senior high school and was later promoted to the club’s Division-One side.
After just a year in competitive football, the player’s potential had become visible to clubs in Ghana and abroad.
He joined Kenyan Division-One club, Monca FC on a year deal and returned to Ghana after the expiration of the contract.
He then joined Cameroonian giants, Cotton Sport du Garoua on a six-month deal. Though young, Sarkodie enjoyed an appreciation number of games but did not extend his deal after it expired.
Sarkodie signed for Nkoranza Warriors on his return to Ghana and was still used as an offensive midfielder having thrived in Kenya and Cameroon as a playmaker.
A promising start to his Nkoranza Warriors career earned him a permanent place in the side.
Coach Frimpong Manso spotted some different qualities in the player and changed his role to a defensive midfielder. He also made him the deputy captain.
Sarkodie rose to become the captain and led the team to the top of the 2018 Division-One League Zone-One table before the season was truncated after the Anas Aremayaw Anas’ exposé.

He also led the side in the Normalisation Committee Tier-One competition. They were eliminated by the Porcupines in the quarter-final stage after a defeat in Kumasi.
Emmanuel Sarkodie is versatile in midfield and is good on both feet. He is good at passing as well as tackling and is near-perfect in set-pieces.
