Popular music promoter, Sleeky Promotions has expressed his disappointment in Charterhouse – the organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) for choosing Kurl Songz to perform on a tribute for Castro.
It was seven years that Castro – a Ghanaian artiste and girlfriend Janet Bandu went missing at the Ada entuary after a hangout with Ghanaian legendary footballer Asamoah Gyan and his brother Baffour Gyan.[ads2]
And as a sign of honouring the Seihor hit-maker, Charterhouse decided to choose Kurl Songz to perform some of Castro’s songs at the this year’s edition of the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held last weekend.
Kurl Songz performed some of the Castro’s hit songs alongside Sarkodie and Kofi Kinaata – who Castro brought to the limelight as far Ghana music is concerned.
But Sleeky who was the promoter for Castro before his disappearance has lambasted Charterhouse for choosing Kurl Songz as the lead performer at the VGMA for Castro.[ads3]
According to Sleeky Promotion, choosing Kurl Songz for the performance was a wrong decision on the part of Charterhouse.
“Castro is a legend and I must confess that I was disappointed when I saw Kurl Songz leading the performance – Why on Earth will they choose Kurl Songz…. He sang the songs in twi and not in fante as we knew of Castro”, Sleeky told Nana Kojo Amoasi on Takoradi-based Ahoto FM morning show dubbed Anopa Bow.[ads4]
Sleeky continued that, ” I was expecting some of the Westside Legacy group (Artistes from the Western Region) to be on that stage and perform some of his songs or even Sarkodie alone to do that because he had a song with Castro and not Kurl Songz who was even struggling with the songs.’
Meanwhile, July 6, 2021 was exactly seven years that Castro and Janet Bandu went missing and per the laws of Ghana have to be declared dead.[ads5]
