The former Vision FC nimble-footed flanksman joined the Serbian first division side Radnik Surdulica in August 2014 from Ghanaian side Red Bull.
At the beginning of the first season at Radnik Surdulica, Samuel Owusu was not having enough playing time and according to the winger, that nearly pushed him to quit playing football.
“I joined Radnik Surdulica in August 2014. Life at the beginning was crazy, training in snow and it was very cold. I didn’t even understand their language then, but I was lucky because I had two other Ghanaian players in the same team.

“It came to a time I nearly gave up in football despite the motivation I had before joining them. The coach then didn’t like young players and I was 17 then and I was even training with their academy side.

“Every player move to abroad to play regularly but I was there [Radnik Surdulica] without playing but sitting at the bench always despite my form before joining the team. I even thought of reporting back to Ghana but my parents motivated me very well.
“Everything changed when the second season resumes, then the coach started giving me small playing time but I was happy to help the team qualify to the Serbian Superliga”, Samuel Owusu told Saddick Adams in an interview.
