Ghana is among the few countries, globally, blessed with astute footballers particularly in the area of midfield.
At the mention of top Ghanaian midfielders, comes with popular names like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Anthony Annan, Thomas Partey, Mubarak Wakaso and host of others who have graced the world of football in recent years.
In the local scene, names like Justice Blay, Richard Boadu (Agadas), Rashid Nortey, Benjamin Afutu, Mudasiru Salifu, Gladson Awako, Latif Anabila, Emmanuel Nettey, and other names in the Ghana Premier League that will come to mind – these players among others in the division one league have one way or the other been highly praised for their exceptional qualities.[ads4]
But one name that most bigheads and pundits following the local football with keen attention haven’t noticed his incredible qualities is Skyy FC defensive midfielder Francis Oteng Gyetuah.
At age 22, Oteng is the engine of the Skyy FC team and probably the unsung hero in the team’s success story this season in the zone II of the division one league.

Even though Skyy FC boast of exceptional talents like Ebenezer Ocran, Ebenezer Mamatah, Ebenezer Adukwaw and Baba Amando Musah, Francis Oteng Gyetuah comes as the most standout player in the team.
Oteng Gyetuah is indeed one of the highly talented players in obscurity yawning to be seen by many bigheads involved in the local game. He might not be playing for Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak or Medeama, but he boast of exceptional qualities that most top midfielders in the local league may not have.
He boast of all the major qualities that a defensive midfielder should have, on top of them all is his extraordinary eyes for goals despite his role as a holding midfielder. His defensive skills as holding midfielder is outstanding – he has the ability to pressure opponents with his excellent sliding and standing tackles, and to intercept passes when they are made.[ads4]
To be a successful defensive cog in midfield, conditioning as a holding midfielder is very important and Francis Oteng Gyetuah has a very good conditioning which makes him come a bit closer to the likes of Rodri of Manchester City, Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City, Declan Rice at West Ham United and even Fabinho of Liverpool and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

Gyetuah is excellent in covering the ground between the two touchlines and the 18-yard boxes and able to mark an attacker closely, catch up with attackers when they break down field, and able to win the ball and pass it out to an attacker, as well as supporting the attack by making good runs when the team is in possession.
His level of anticipation is out of this world, his intelligence to read a game is magnificent, and predict passes and moves before they happen as well as filling in the gaps and have tactical awareness of where to be on the pitch.
His exceptional qualities makes him outstanding and pushes him to a level that he is ripe for the Ghana Premier League.
The former Sekondi Eleven Wise holding midfielder joined Skyy FC in 2017 and has been magical since switching camp to the Daboase-based club in the division one league.[ads1]
The holding midfielder had an incredible season in the just ended division one league, and was involved in nineteen goals for Skyy FC. The midfield bison, gem netted seven goals with
twelve assists and won three man of the match awards after twenty-eight matches this season.
These and more makes the young but talented Francis Oteng Gyetuah ripe for premier league football and will make a great addition to any of the Ghana Premier league clubs.
