An assistant referee has been physically assaulted in Western Region Football Association super middle league game in Bekwai. Reports say the referee, identified as Emmanuel Allu Tebson was beaten during Bekwaiman and Villa Afrique game at the Bekwai School Park on Wednesday afternoon. Unconfirmed reports say the supporters of Bekwaiman (home team) attacked the assistant referee for adding only three minutes to the game which they were losing 1:2. The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has filed a defamation lawsuit against two staff of the authority, seeking Gh¢4million in damages. The defendants are Kwame Baah Mensah and Edmond Appiah who are all staff of the authority. President Akufo-Addo has authorized Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to commence formal engagements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), inviting the Fund to support an economic program put together by the government of Ghana.
