At least 124 people are known to have died when the roof of a Dominican Republic nightclub collapsed Tuesday morning, and 155 victims have been taken to local hospitals, officials said early Wednesday. The cause of the massive collapse at the Jet Set nightclub remains unclear as rescue efforts enters second day. Giant cranes were seen removing pieces of the destroyed roof. Some of the prominent people who lost their lives includes, singer Rubby Perez, who was the main renowned singer when the tragedy occurred. Others are American Baseball pitchers, provincial governors, and other prominent people in the country.

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, led by Kofi Adams, has inaugurated a seven-member Committee of Enquiry to investigate the tragic death of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju. The Nigerian collapsed during a bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on March 29, 2025, and was later pronounced dead at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. The seven-member committee include: Ambassador Major (RTD) Amarkai Amarteifio (Chairman), Peter Zwennes Esq, Ekow Asmah, Samuel Bartels Esq, Eddie Pappoe, Juliana Addo-Yobo Esq and Dr. Martin Engman.

Seven people, including two children, died, and 23 others were rescued on Thursday after an inflatable boat carrying migrants capsized off the Greek island of Lesbos, according to the coast guard. Initially, four bodies were discovered in the Aegean Sea, but after further searches by patrol boats, three more were found, a coast guard spokeswoman told AFP.
