The University of Cape Coast (UCC) were adjudged winners of the maiden edition of the African Universities Olympic games held at the capital of Egypt, Cairo.
Ghana was heavily represented in the maiden edition of the competition by three Universities namely the University of Ghana (Legon), University of Developmental Studies (UDS) and University of Cape Coast.
The Cape Coast based amassed 10 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals to clinch the first position with Ahzar University of Egypt placing second.
UCC were declared winners of both male and female athletics event making them the overall best team in the tournament.
The other two representatives of Ghana, Legon and UDS had two gold medals apiece.
