Ghanaian boxer, Samuel Takyi will be pocketing three thousand dollars ($3,000) for winning a bronze medal for Ghana in the ongoing Olympic Games in Japan’s capital.
Takyi, 20, is the first Ghanaian athlete to win the West African country a medal since 1992 and also the first to since 1972 in Munich to get a medal at the global stage.[ads2]
This comes after he defeated Ecuadorian Carlos Caicedo in the preliminary round and Columbian David Avila Ceibar in the quarterfinals stage.[ads3]
Even though he was beaten in the semifinals by American professional boxer Duke Ragan 4:1, Samuel Takyi is leaving the games with a bronze medal for Ghana.

And due to that, President Akufo-Addo has promised to give the Disciplinary Gym boxer $3,000.00 for the remarkable achievement in the Olympic Games.[ads5]
