Ghana striker, Jordan Ayew has said the Black Stars exit from the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon is a wake-up call.
Ghana was booted out of the AFCON 2021 after an embarrassing defeat to debutant Comoros. The four-time AFCON champions were shockingly beaten 3:2 in last game of the AFCON group stage on Tuesday.[ads2]
Ghana finished last in a group of Morocco, Gabon and Comoros with only a point , scoring just three goals and conceding six after three matches.
Speaking after the game, Jordan Ayew who failed to score even a single goal in the tournament as a striker, believes the Black Stars wasn’t good enough throughout the tournament and the elimination should be a wake-up call for the players and the entire nation.[ads3]
“We were not good enough… I think this is a wake-up call for us. If we don’t learn from this, then I don’t know “, Jordan Ayew said after the Comoros game.
This becomes the first time that Ghana failed to secure a single victory in an AFCON tournament and the first since 2006 that Ghana couldn’t qualify out of the group stage.[ads5]
