Already coach Ibrahim Tanko has named a 20-man squad for the trip which is made up of only locally-based players.
Many were of the conviction that Ghana will benefit greatly from the game since it was the Uzbekistan FA who requested for the match.
But in an interview on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Henry Asante Twum explained that the Uzbekistan FA requested for the main Black Stars but since the team will be playing South Africa in 2021 AFCON qualifiers on the same day, the Ghana FA decided to let the Black Stars B travel for the friendly hence the reason why the country won’t get any huge financial benefit from the friendly.[ads3]
He said that, “Honestly speaking the request was for team A, that’s where you have power to negotiate how much you want.Once you are not presenting your team A,your bargaining chip drops so we agreed they take care of all the cost(everything)and also produce the game for Ghanaians back home to watch. It’s not financially rewarding”
“Uzbekistan requested for the main Black Stars but we told them it was not possible so we had to give them the black Stars B.Once you are not presenting team A ,your bargain chip drops.”[ads5]
