The family of missing Ghanaian artiste, Theophilus Tagoe popularly known as Castro will not hold any funeral for the singer should court declares him dead on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
Today, July 6, 2021 marks exactly seven years that the ‘Seihor’ hit-maker went missing after drowning in the Ada river alongside girlfriend Janet Bandu.[ads2]
The two had gone out to feel the breeze from the East alongside legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamaoh Gyan and his brother Baffour Gyan and were cruising on the Ada estuary on a jet ski where the unfortunate incident happened.
Seven years after vigorous search, the whereabout of the two remains a misery.
But the laws of Ghana indicate that a missing person can only be declared dead after seven years of disappearance – which means that Castro and Janet Bandu could be declared dead on July 7, 2021 should they fail to appear.[ads3]
Speaking in an interview with Nana Kojo Amoasi on Takoradi-based Ahoto FM morning show dubbed Anopa Bow, Mr. Eshun stated vehemently that until they see the body of their beloved, there would be no funeral.
Though he agrees that the law can declare his son dead, Mr. Eshun is also of the view that since family of the artiste have not officially issued any release that they have accepted the declaration, nobody can hold a funeral in the name of Castro.[ads4]
“Since the incident happened, we [the family] have been following the case through till now – the police and the other security agencies have done their best in the search and I must recommend them”, he said..
” On whether to hold a funeral, we haven’t made a decision yet because we haven’t seen the body, and until we sees it, we will continue to do our consultations, there would be no funeral. We as the family respect the laws of the country and we have no qualms in the declaration, but we as a family haven’t declared him [Castro] dead yet.”
He added that should his son fail to appear before the declaration, the family will do some consultations before they will announce their stands on the case.[ads5]
