Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has endorsed the #FixTheCountry campaign, a protest by Ghanaians on social media calling on the government to improve the condition of living in the country.
According to these protestors, the cost of living in Ghana has become too expensive due to the sudden increase of fuel prices among others.
Since the start of the campaign, many celebrities including rapper Strongman and ace journalist Kwasi Pratt Jnr have all endorsed the campaign.
Speaking on Asaase Radio in an interview, Stonebwoy believes the #fixthecountry campaign is nothing new since it has been like that since the era of former president late Jerry John Rawlings.
He believes the call from Ghanaians is on the right path and stated that he is against #FixYourself, a counter-campaign against #FixTheCountry.
“It’s a go for me. From the time of Kume Preko days when we were all small boys … that was how far activism for a better Ghana has always been,” Stonebwoy said.
“From the time J J Rawlings did a number of coups, that has been part of the quest for a better Ghana. It has all been ‘Fix Ghana’ till today and we’re still fixing Ghana.”
“Just like everybody else supports it that Ghana needs to be fixed, my point is that it’s not like nothing has been done at all, but it has to be done,”
“That #FixYourself hashtag came about to oppose #FixTheCountry and I do not buy that idea. When the country is fixed, we shall all be fixed”, he added…
