The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has said the Sekondi Sports Stadium will be reopened for sporting activities early next year.
The Sekondi Sports Stadium is currently under renovation after almost eleven years without any refurbishment.[ads2]
The state-owned edifice has been closed down for months to pave way for the renovation exercise but Professor Peter Twumasi believes it will be ready for sporting activities early 2022.
He made this known when he inspected works ongoing at the stadium on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.[ads3]
” I inspected Essipong stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi to assess progress of work. The replacement of decayed metal beams and supports for the roof is completed; and treatment of the metals with anti-rust quoting material is also progressing smoothly before installation of new non-corrosive roofing sheets.
“The stadium is expected to be reopened for sporting activities in the region early next year. The inspection work ended with staff durbar to address various issues of achievements and challenges.
