Ghanaian defender Samuel Kwaku Afriyie has signed his first professional contract with American side New York City FC.
The 21-year old has inked his first professional contract with the Pigeons after being promoted from the club’s academy to the senior team.[ads2]
Born in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Afriyie joined the club’s academy side in 2016 and has since been exceptional hence the promotion.
Speaking after signing the deal, Afriyie said ,”I am really excited for the next chapter with NYCFC, I have been around this club for a long time and it means a lot to me as they have always had my development and best interest at heart. I am really excited to be working with the coaching staff and the club who have always provided with the right tools to grow as a player and as a person. I hope to continue the success of the club and maybe even add more trophies to the cabinet.”[ads5]
