Following the absence of Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu, the head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has handed a late call-up to Nicholas Opoku.[ads2]
The Amiens SC defender has received an emergency call-up to the Black Stars to face Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Monday, March 27, 2023.
Ghana leads the group E table with seven points after beating Angola by 1:0 in Kumasi last Thursday with AFC Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo scoring the only goal.[ads3]
And Opoku who has played 25 matches for Amiens in all competitions, last played for the Black Stars in August, 2021 during an international friendly against Morocco.
The 25-year old defender will serve as a backup for Daniel Amartey and Joseph Aidoo who will be forming a partnership at the heart of defence for Ghana this evening.
Nicholas Opoku has already landed at the Black Stars camp in Luanda for the game this evening.[ads4]
