Gone are the days were footballers were considered as persons with poor academic background as most of the actors of the game were not viewed as bastions of intelligence and responsible.
While the beautiful game keeps growing, the norm has been changed in the contemporary age with most football stars pursuing world-class education.[ads2]
In Europe, players like Juan Mata, Vincent Kompany, Chiellini, Frank Lampard and others are considered as professional footballers who are well educated aside their skills on the field of play.

When you come Ghana, there are players who have defied the odds to prove that plenty footballers have brains on top of their talents.
Few of such Ghanaian professional players who are well educated and boast of a university degree includes; Medeama SC skipper Joseph Tetteh Zutah, former Asante Kotoko striker William Opoku Mensah and former Great Olympics forward Abel Manomey.[ads3]
Currently, nine players of newly promoted Ghana Premier League outfit, Real Tamale United, according to local sports pundit Shaban Mohammed, are studying at the University for Development Studies in Tamale.[ads4]
