Medeama Sporting Club defeated their rivals Karela United in week 28 of the Ghana Premier League at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa on Saturday afternoon.
The tantalizing encounter saw Medeama domesticating Karela United courtesy a late minute goal from defender Vincent Atinga Addae.
Prior to the game, Medeama had been beaten in last league game against Inter Allies, a defeat that brought coach Yaw Preko’s job on a thin line.
There were pressure on coach Yaw Preko and his technical team members following the club’s abysmal performance recently, and a defeat to Karela United could have been their last game in charge of the Yellow and Mauves.
Medeama gave a good display on the day with Prince Opoku-Agyemang and Rashid Nortey giving their all just to ensure the club smack Karela United for the three maximum points.
Despite the pressure from Medeama, Karela stood on their grounds but that didn’t last as Vincent Atinga strike home the only goal in the 81st minute to give Medeama Sporting Club the full points.
The victory means Medeama have managed to get to the third position but they will only sit there after Sunday’s crucial games where league leaders Hearts of Oak will face title contenders Great Olympics whilst second placed Asante Kotoko will welcome AshantiGold SC.[ads5]
