Asante Kotoko were humbled by Medeama Sporting Club in week twenty-one of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors who were having a fine form in the league were tamed 1:2 by Medeama at the Lenclay Sports Stadium.
Before the start of the game, Asante Kotoko had never lost at the Lenclay Sports Stadium this season after they adopted the stadium as home venue.[ads2]
Kotoko started very well in the early minutes of the game with Augustine Okrah and Fabio Gama threatening the defence of the Yellow and Mauves.
This led to the opener by Emmanuel Gyamfi in the 13th minute of the fascinating encounter.
Gyamfi headed home the opener courtesy a cross from Imoro Ibrahim at the edge of the eighteen yard box of the visitors.[ads3]
That didn’t deter Medeama from pushing forward as the Tarkwa-based club settled in very well and started bossing the game with their rich midfield led by Richard Boadu.
Coach Yaw Preko’s side continued to push forward for the parity until Joseph Tetteh Zutah sent in a well calculated pass to the penalty box for Prince Opoku-Agyemang to snatch the parity in the 29th minute of the game.
It was all Medeama game just after getting the equalizer with Joseph Tetteh Zutah, Richard Boadu and co bossing the game in field despite the absence of their midfield dynamo Justice Blay.[ads4]
At the 45th minute, Richard Boadu scored the second goal for Medeama Sporting Club with a thunderbolt strike that deflected the Kotoko defenders.
Despite all efforts from goalkeeper Razak Abalora, the ball entered the back of the net to give Medeama SC the lead.
The two clubs returned from the tunnel to give a superlative performance but the score didn’t change as Medeama return to Tarkwa with the full three points from the hands of Asante Kotoko…[ads5]
