Asante Kotoko held Medeama Sporting Club to a one-all draw in week four clash of the Ghana Premier League at the Akoon Park on Sunday.
It was a late penalty goal from Abass Mohammed that denied Asante Kotoko the full three points at the Akoon Park this afternoon.[ads2]
Medeama Sporting Club begun the game on an impressive note with Eric Kwakwa threatening the Asante Kotoko defence on three occasions.
Asante Kotoko also started bossing the game despite Medeama looking the better side in the first half which ended goalless.[ads3]
Both teams returned from the break with much eagerness to get the opener and probably secure the full points.
Kwadwo Asamoah nearly broke the virginity for Medeama Sporting Club in the 70th minute with a thunderbolt strike but it was beautifully and tantalizingly saved by Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora.
In just four minutes after that spectacular saved saw Kwame Opoku scoring the opener for Asante Kotoko against struggling Medeama Sporting Club side at the Akoon Park.
Opoku connected Emmanuel Gyamfi’s loft pass to score the opener for Asante Kotoko.
Coach Johnson Smith started introducing more men into the game with Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama making debut for Asante Kotoko in the 81st minute of the cagey encounter.
Just as many thought Asante Kotoko are returning from Tarkwa with the three points came with Habib Mohammed handling the ball which saw the center referee awarded Medeama Sporting Club a penalty in the 85th minute.[ads4]
Striker Abass Mohammed beautifully converted the opportunity for Medeama Sporting Club to ensure they share the spoils with Asante Kotoko who were returning from a defeat to Sudanese giant Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League.[ads5]
