The Black Meteors of Ghana have been beaten on penalty shoot-outs by Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the U23 AFCON on Tuesday.

Ghana’ dream of making it to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo is still hanging after losing to Ivory Coast 3:2 on penalty shoot-outs after 2:2 in regulation today.
The first half was dominated by the Ivorians which saw them leading with Yusif Dao’ goal in the 13th minute of the match.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’ side returned from the recess to pile up pressure on the Ivorians leading to Yaw Yeboah’ equalizer in the 51st minute of the game.
Yusif Dao restored the Ivorians to the lead again in the 85th minute before Evans Mensah snatched the parity in the 90+2 minute to send the game to the extra time.
The additional thirty minutes which was full of end to end action ended without a goal and the two teams had to be separated via penalty shoot-outs.
The Ivorians managed to beat Ghana in the shootouts 3:2 to reach the grand finale of the competition and also booking a ticket to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Ghana will now battle with the loser in Egypt and South Africa semi-final clash, in the third place for a ticket to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
