Asante Kotoko humbled Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday with an emphatic 0:2 victory in week 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupines recorded their first away victory in the Ghana top-flight league against Aduana Stars with George Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey scoring the two goals.
Prior into the game, Aduana Stars had lost to Medeama in Tarkwa and were determined to make amends by smashing Asante Kotoko but it turned otherwise.[ads2]
Kotoko took the lead in the 20th minute through George Mfeguee who headed in from a cross to give the away side the opening goal of the game.
Aduana Stars midfielder Mohammed Abass went down in the box in 23rd minute but the referee ignored calls for a penalty.
Midfielder Mudasiru Salifu nearly increased the lead in the 34th minute but his long range effort came off the crossbar.[ads3]
Despite playing as the visitors, Asante Kotoko dominated the first half with a goal lead.
Bright Adjei had a glorious opportunity to slot home the equaliser in the 62nd minute but missed it.
Striker Yahaya Mohammed nearly came up with the equalizer in the 67th minute as he failed to direct his header at goal.
Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim produced splendid saves to deny Aduana Stars from getting the equaliser in the 86th minute.[ads4]
Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey sealed the win for the Porcupine Warriors in the 89th minute following a blunder from the Aduana Stars defense.
Aduana Stars have now suffered two straight defeats in the ongoing Ghana Premier League after losing to Medeama last game.
The defeat also becomes Aduana Stars second defeat at home in the league season, losing the first to King Faisal.[ads5]
