The Brands and Communication Manager of Asante Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko has disclosed how low attendance at the stadium is affecting the day-to-day administration of the club.[ads2]
According to him, Asante Kotoko spend over Gh¢300,000 on wages every month but has only earned Gh¢150,000 as gate proceeds in their last two matches.
He stated that the low attendance at the stadium will make it very difficult for the club to maintain its top performing players if the situation continues.[ads3]
“The effect of poor attendance on Asante Kotoko is very huge. We have only earned Gh¢150,000 as net from our last two league matches”, Obeng Nyarko said on Kumasi-based Akoma FM in an interview.
“Our wage bill currently is over Gh¢300,000 every month but yet our supporters want us [management of the club] to maintain players even though they have refused to come to the stadium”, he added.[ads4]
He pleaded with the supporters of the Club to be in their numbers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when Asante Kotoko host Great Olympics in week 11 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
“We need our fans in their numbers at the stadium so that we will be able to meet all there demands. All their grievances can be answered at the stadium. The players get disappointed anytime they see an empty stadium”, Obeng Nyarko said.
Asante Kotoko currently sit second on the Ghana Premier League log with 18 points after 10 matches, just two points separating them and league leaders, Aduana Stars.[ads5]
