According to Akonnor, the Ghana FA Players and Coaches Status Committee has ordered the Porcupine Warriors to pay him the remainder of his two years contract before his untimely dismissal.
The former Ashgold gaffer joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year deal in January 2018 as the head coach but was sacked after just a year.

Akonnor then demanded for a four month salary of which the management of Asante Kotoko failed to comply.

The case then went to the Ghana FA Players and Coaches Status Committee, which they have ruled in favor of the former Black Stars central midfielder.
In an interview with Fox FM, CK Akonnor disclosed that, the case has been ruled in his favor and Kotoko have been ordered to pay the remainder of his two years contract.

“I now have the letter of the ruling in my hands so I can talk about it. Unfortunately it’s not GHC60,000 as is being reported but for the figures, I can’t say it, but the ruling is in favour of me. I won in all aspects of the case. It’s unfortunate because for the respect I have for the Asantehene Otumfour I didn’t want it this way.
” I had the opportunity to shake hands with Otumfour and it’s a privilege. I wanted it settled out of court but the management did not understand, I asked for only four months salary then I walk away but they didn’t agree, and now they are to pay for two years and there is a huge difference”, Akonnor told Fox FM.

As the head coach for Asante Kotoko, CK Akonnor reached the group stages of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup and went ahead to win the Normalization Committee Special Competition tier I, qualifying the team to the 2019/20 CAF Champions League.
