Ghanaian champions, Asante Kotoko have reportedly commenced talks with CK Akonnor to take over the vacant coaching job.[ads2]
The Porcupines are currently without a substantive head coach after the dismissal of Seydou Zerbo.
The Burkina Faso national was fired as Asante Kotoko coach after a painful 2:0 defeat to Medeama Sporting Club at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi last Sunday.
His assistant Abdul Gazale has been tasked to take over the team on the interim until a substantive gaffer is appointed.[ads3]
And with the management of the club in search of a new head coach, reports indicate that talks have begun with the former Black Stars coach to return to the club.
Akonnor became Asante Kotoko head coach in October 2018 on a three-year deal following his resignation from AshantiGold SC.
He joined Asante Kotoko after the departure of Paa Kwesi Fabin.[ads4]
During his first stint with the club, Akonnor guided the Porcupine Warriors to play in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The former VfL Wolfsburg midfielder guided Asante Kotoko to lift the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
Akonnor has formerly coached Sekondi Eleven Wise, Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC.[ads5]
