Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of midfielder Fabio Gama after the expiration of his contract.
The Brazilian midfielder has left the champions of the Ghana Premier League after two years stay despite the club’s eagerness to renew his contract.
A statement from Kotoko confirming Fabio Gama’s departure reads, “Fabio Gama leaves Asante Kotoko after the expiration of his contract.
“Fabio informed Management at the end of the season of his desire to explore other opportunities elsewhere after two successful season with the Club. He explained the personal and family reasons related to the decision and Management are respectful of same. It was never an issue of the club’s inability to meet his demands as none was made.
“We thank Fabio and his family for many wonderful memories, positive attitude and sense of professionalism during his stay.
“Asante Kotoko wish him the very best in his next adventure.”
Gama joined Asante Kotoko as a free agent in 2020 and helped them win the Ghana Premier League in the recently ended season.
The 29-year old made 48 appearances for Kotoko during his two-year stay and scored only five goals.
He had an impressive debut season where he scored four goals in 28 matches but had a limited time the following season under coach Prosper Narteh Ogum due to injuries.
It has been reported that Fabio Gama is heading to Bahrain to continue his career.
