Asante Kotoko managed to defeat relegation- threatening side Inter Allies in a five-goal thriller at Dawu on Monday afternoon.
The Porcupines ended the cagey encounter 2:3 to secure the three maximum points.[ads2]
Kotoko started the game on a high note, creating some glaring opportunities despite playing as the visitors.
Before the game, Asante Kotoko were under a severe pressure after bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak had opened a three points gap at the summit of the league table.[ads3]
Coach Mariano Barreto’s charges opened the deadlock in the 27th minute with skipper Emmanuel Gyamfi putting the Porcupines to the lead.
Under just twelve minutes, Alex Esso has leveled the scores for Inter Allies but wasn’t enough to put fear to the Porcupines as Evans Adomako restored the lead for the visitors in the 40th minute.
Despite conceding the second goal, Inter Allies kept pushing forward but goalkeeper Razak Abalora made a crucial save to prevent Richmond Lamptey from getting the equalizer in the 45th minute.[ads4]
The Tampico Boys returned from the tunnel to showcase an extraordinary performance as Andy Okpe had the equalizer for the host team in eighteen minutes after returning from the break.
Unexpectedly, defender Andrew Appau netted the winning goal for the Porcupine Warriors in the 69th minute to give Kotoko the three points after the ninety minutes plus six minutes additional time.
Asante Kotoko are now on the same points with league leaders Hearts of Oak with five matches to the end of the league season.[ads5]
