Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has opened up on his amazing record against the Super Green Eagles of Nigeria.
Gyan donned the Black Stars jersey for over a decade and throughout his time, Ghana never lost a single game to Nigeria.
“I have played three or four times against Nigeria, if I can remember. In CAN 2008, we also played two friendly games in England, we drew at Watford stadium and then we beat them 4-1”, Gyan said in an interview on TV3.
“So me being part of Ghana-Nigeria, I think Ghana has won three and then we drew one. Me being part of the team, they’ve never beaten Ghana. I think I scored in the semi-finals of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nation”, the former Sunderland striker added.
Asamoah Gyan first played against Nigeria in AFCON 2008 quarterfinal fixture where Ghana won 2:1.
Two years after, Asamoah Gyan met Nigeria in Angola before a double friendly matches in London.
After capping 109 matches for Ghana, Asamoah Gyan became the country’s all-time topscorer with 51 goals, and has never been part of the Black Stars since the AFCON 2019.
And while Ghana prepare to face Nigeria in 2022 World Cup playoff, Asamoah Gyan has called on the Black Stars players to go all out and defeat Nigeria in the two ties to secure a spot in the World Cup tournament which will be held in Qatar later this year.
The Black Stars have commenced preparations for the crucial games without skipper Andre Ayew who is on suspension.
The team is currently in Kumasi to intensify preparations for the first leg tie which takes place on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The second leg will come off at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, 2022…
