Reports indicate that Nottingham Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi is contemplating a switch of international allegiance from England to Ghana ahead of the upcoming international tournament.
A three-cap England international, Hudson-Odoi has showcased his talent on the wing since joining Nottingham Forest from his boyhood club Chelsea in the summer of 2023. Despite contributing 20 goals and assists in 89 matches, the 2000-born winger has frequently been overlooked by the England national team.
Hudson-Odoi’s last appearance for England was in November 2019 during a 4-0 victory over Kosovo. With fierce competition for the left-wing position from players like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon, it appears unlikely that Thomas Tuchel will be reaching out to the Chelsea academy graduate in the near future.
| Callum Hudson-Odoi – Club Career Statistics | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Chelsea | 136 | 16 | 22 |
| Nottingham Forest | 89 | 14 | 6 |
| Bayer Leverkusen | 21 | 1 | 1 |
Consequently, this situation may lead Hudson-Odoi to consider representing Ghana on the international stage.
Born to Ghanaian parents, the 25-year-old, who was part of England’s U17 side that won the World Cup in 2017, has always maintained a strong relationship with Ghana, thus leaving the door ajar for him to switch.
If all goes as planned, the winger will be in the Ghana squad to face England in the FIFA World Cup.
