Ghana Premier League heavyweight Hearts of Oak were spectacular in their double header friendly at Pobiman today.
The Rainbow side engaged lower tier sides Montreal United and Royal FC in a double header friendly to prepare themselves ahead of the upcoming league season.
The 2005 CAF Confederation Cup winners begun the day with a warm-up friendly against Montreal United.
Coach Kim Grant went to the game with Richard Baidoo, Fatawu Mohammed, Christopher Bonney, Robert Addo, James Serwonu, Enoch Addo, Ardy Enoch, Charles McCarthy, Umar Manaf, Kwadwo Obeng Junior and Bernard Arthur as his starting line-up.
Despite an impressive showdown from both sides, the game ended goalless with the Phobians missing some descent chances.
At exactly 10:00AM, the second game was underway with the Accra based side taking on Royal FC.
Coach Kim Grant went to the second game with another set of squad; Benjamin Mensah, Alhassan Mohammed, Sumalia Ibrahim, Raddy Avouka, Benjamin Agyare, Aminu Alhassan, Benjamin Afutu, Michelle Sarpong, Kofi Kordzi and Dominic Eshun.
Youngster Benjamin Afutu opened the scoreline for the Rainbow side in the 44th minute with a powerful header from Raddy Avouka’s inch-perfect cross.
Royal FC quickly regrouped and started tormenting the defense of the home side but the individual brilliance of Mohammed Alhassan, Benjamin Agyare and co prevented the deadly attack of the visitors from getting the equalizer.
Raddy Avouka eventually had the second goal for the Rainbow side in the 86th minute to seal a 2:0 victory for Hearts of Oak.
