Hearts of Oak duo of Salifu Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh are out of the Ghana U-23 squad to face Japan and South Korea in friendly games.
According to reports, management of the Ghana Premier League giants have refused to release the two players who have been pivotal in the team’s 2020/21 campaign for the Black Meteors invitation.
This is because of the Phobians’ crucial league game against city rivals Great Olympics this weekend.
Hearts of Oak are currently leading the Ghana Premier League table and are eager to tame Great Olympics to maintain their position hence the decision to not release the two players for the Ghana U-23 invitation.
Meanwhile, the Phobians have released second choice goalkeeper Richmond Ayi for the Ghana U-23 assignment according to close source.
The Black Meteors of Ghana will battle out with Japan in two games on June 4 and June 8 in Tokyo.
Ghana will engage South Korea on June 12 and June 15. Both matches will be played at Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.[ads5]
